Question: Why do i have symptoms like a panic attack after eating?
(Posted by: Animallover on 2010-07-29 22:10:36)
Every day, I drink a small cup of orange hi- c and eat two apple pies from mcdonalds on my break. By the time I'm off break it feels like my heart is having to try harder to maintain its rhythym and my upper abdomen at my waist feels like there's a lot of pressure on it. Taking a deep breath will relieve it as long as the breath lasts but it's very uncomfortable. After about thirty mins it goes away but I feel like I'm having a panic attack or am about to pass out for 30 mins. Am I just eating too much sugar or drinking too much? This doesn't happen at other meals. |

Well then, OBVIOUSLY, it's what you're eating, maybe you should stop eating at micky-d's? |

The same thing happens to me, and I thought no one else had the same issue. I usually drink a bunch of soda pop and that will make me feel faint. Also after eating a meal full of carbohydates but not much protein or fiber I will also feel this way. Try eating more fruit and decreasing carbs from your diet. Also talk to your doctor, because I have yet to or I would give you the proper information. Good luck :) |

You may be eating way too fast because you feel rushed from your break, causing food to not settle well in your stomach, and possibly putting pressure on your chest. Or the amount of sugar is giving your glycemic index a spike, since your entire "meal " consists of carbohydrates, and worse, simple sugars. Also, it is McDonald's, so it is pretty greasy food. Try eating slower, or a new snack. |

Try replacing your snack with, say, an apple, or unsalted nuts, or whatever nutritional thing you enjoy eating (hopefully something). Diet can really affect your health. You also may be imagining it is worse than it is or worrying about your heart--giving you the "panic attack " feeling. You can get a quick doctor appointment to talk it over and maybe get over that kind of placebo. |

Yep. Either artificial colors or high fructose corn syrup and all the calories without much antioxidants. You don't know what the crust of Mcdonald's pie is made from. What if it's Crisco? I'm not saying that it is but check your diet. If you do this too many times, you may need a beta blocker someday. |

Mcdonald's apple pie is considered junk food. And people with sensitive stomachs will be even more uncomfortable. I suggest you eat only one at a time and not everyday if you can. Also orange hi-c is also made of junk like high fructose syrup which is very bad for you. The only good thing it has that is good is vitamin C. I noticed with myself that when I have something that has high vitamin C, I start to get stomach cramps like I have to go to the bathroom and thats because vitamin C causes me to have a bowel movement. It is also pretty easy to mistake an anxiety attack with stomach cramps. I hope I've helped. |
