If you are going to see a doctor I mean long term I feel as though im having a breakdown

I'd say if you're just missing work to go to the doctor's appointment for a half day or day, that could be ok. Staying out of work for days on end though is not good. It's not the same as if you had a serious injury.

For a doctor's appointment yeah..... but if it isn't too debilitating i would recommend you ask for a few days off and then return to work well rested. one of the best things for anxiety and depression, if not too severe, is to get out of the house and keep busy.
