Anyone know if these are symptoms of panic attack?

Question: Anyone know if these are symptoms of panic attack?

(Posted by: ~Love my kids~ on 2010-07-26 17:14:00)

I was wondering if these were panic attacks and what I can do about it? 1) I have woken up twice now feeling like I was gasping for air and it almost felt I was being strangled. Took me a little while to catch my breath... 2) I was just sitting in the car when all of a sudden I felt this flutter in my chest (felt like my heart or something) and felt really weird to breath... took me a an hour or so to stop feeling dizzy.... 3) I randomly get flutters and cool sensations when I breathe... I am under a lot of stress right now and have always suffered from anxiety... but I have NEVER experienced panic attacks... so I am not sure what one is or what to do about it...

Could be, there tends to be hyperventilating (breathing so fast and shallow that you can't breathe properly) and dizzyness. The heart flutter may indicate something more - it's always good to get checked out, you never know. For hyperventilating, you need a paper bag to breathe into to bring it under control. And Cognitive therapy (self-help) to plan a trigger to help you manage it.

I think so. I have a really good friend who gets panic attacks, and she told me that when it happens, she feels really hot and it's hard to breathe. Also, I've felt that flutter thing, too. I started freaking out about it and felt a cold flash, and my mom told me I was having a panic attack. I can tell you that the flutter thing is not your heart, although I know it feels like it is. It's like your esophagus or something. Anyways, I think you should talk to your doctor about it and get a professional opinion.
